There are virtually thousands of Travel Agents and an equal number of travel websites/portals offering you cheap and economical Flight Tickets. Most big time travel agents and travel portals have some sort of tie-up with certain airlines. They get hefty discounts on bulk purchases which most pass on to the customer. If you take advice of your friends, they will suggest you to some travel portal they have recently been to. But most people are not aware that the travel portals and travel agents that are around are mostly specialized in one way or other. Some are specialized in Domestic Travel, some other are specialized in International Travel, and yet some other are specialized in Last Minute flight tickets. This means that the travel agents or travel portals that are specialized in something can provide you with better fares for that category of travel.
Here are some tips and tricks to get cheap tickets
- Advance purchase: If you are not in a hurry it is always a good idea to book your tickets in advance. At least 21 days in advance. Airlines generally give out cheap tickets if you book your ticket in advance.
- Compare prices: There is a lot of competition in air travel, and most service providers who deal with flight tickets have their shops online. Which makes searching for fare on the internet a critical step towards cheap tickets. Your search should include websites of the major carriers and consolidators. When comparing the prices one should be aware of taxes and Fees applicable on the fare.
- Best days to travel: Try being flexible when scheduling your travel. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday are normally the cheapest days to travel. Also you should avoid festive seasons such as Christmas Eve and New Year.
- Late night or early morning flights: Try opting for odd time for travel usually late night or early morning flight which fewer people prefer. This way there isn’t much competition and hence flight tickets tend to be cheaper.
- Flexible Departure Airport: Search ticket prices at surrounding airports. It can be less expensive to arrive or depart from a surrounding airport or city. Crunch numbers to see if you save or spend more money with this option.
- Round trips Vs one way: A roundtrip happens to be cheaper than two one way trips, if you plan to return to our originating airport. It is always better to book a roundtrip.
- Airline Deals: Find the lowest prices through other sources but before you buy, check out the airline’s website directly. Often the airlines offer additional discounts on tickets purchased online. Plus, you will save more money by not having to pay a booking fee for the tickets.
- Consolidated Deals: It is a good idea to book your Flight Tickets through consolidators who buy in bulk and sell them on discounted rates.
10. Special category Discounts: If you are a student, senior Citizen, a sports person or you fall under other special categories, ask the airline if they can provide special discounts for you.
11. National carriers for International Flights: If you are travelling abroad, try choosing national airlines of the destination country, there are generally less taxes involved on national airlines. However this may not be always true.
12. Nonstop Vs 1 stop and 2 stop Flights: When travelling inside US, try choosing nonstop flights, the more stops you will have the more tax you would be paying, so your tickets would get expensive. However, on international flights if you choose 1 or 2 stop flights and if the layover time is more than 4 hours the Flight Tickets tend to be cheaper. This may not be true always.
Frequent flier programs: Research frequent flier programs available through the airlines that allow you to earn free tickets for each time you travel.

Question: finally a democratic review of the bush years, truly fair and uncut?
People are howling about being able to trust obama and that in the white house he could lead the country into destruction—lol. With a straight face they pretend that he could be any worse than the present. So we take a candid look at W–the good parts. Liberals may want to leave now. Bush had no immediate plans to involve himself in international affairs. During the primaries it was often cited that he really thought very little about global issues. He did not know when he was elected that he would invade iraq in any realistic way. Policies I hate to lose. 1 support for marriage 2. immigration(illegal) 3. Stem cell research. 4. abortion. It’s nothing new, blacks are generally conservative–not fake conservative like republicans(Expensive war PLUS tax cuts) no hand outs except to rich corporations etc. It’s unfortunate that we not only live in a two color country but a 2 class and 2 ideology country as well. Truth is most of us are purple not red or blue. There I said it:)
Answer: I think most of us are yellow.

Question: My Stimulus Plan… is this a bad idea?
Why can’t we take 10% of all United States business taxes and put it into a fund for two years. (2009 and 2010). Then in 2011 and 2012 those business don’t pay that 10% (which would be considered a 10% tax cut) and that fund that has ac-crewed over the past two years gets redistributed as an economic stimulus package… Corporations are paying less taxes, wealth is distributed throughout… How does this plan not work? The government could even tax the stimulus checks so that they get their hand in on it too… I don’t see a problem with this situation. Wouldn’t this pull the economy up quickly?
Answer: When the government redistributes wealth that is the definition of socialism. A better way is to encourage job growth to decrease unemployment. If you are a business owner and you carry the burden of heavy taxes you will be less likely to hire new people and more likely to cut expenses in areas such as payroll. When jobs are lost so are income tax revenues. Our country was founded on capitalism and not on the principles of government writing people checks.

The Associated Press
Wednesday, September 26, 2007; 7:34 PMWASHINGTON — Dealing with global warming will be painful, says one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress. To back up his claim he is proposing a recipe many people won’t like _ a 50-cent gasoline tax, a carbon tax and scaling back tax breaks for some home owners.
“I’m trying to have everybody understand that this is going to cost and that it’s going to have a measure of pain that you’re not going to like,” Rep. John Dingell, who is marking his 52nd year in Congress, said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press.

Answer: Quite simply one of the dumbest ideas I have heard to date. Man-made global warming hasn't even been proven to be true yet! This is simply an attempt for government to take more money from the people to pay for their pet projects. This must end!
