I’m doing a project on persuasion and I need to persuade ppl to donate to my fav charity but I can’t think of one. If you have any suggestions for the project that’d be nice too!

Question: Fundraising events that generate large profits? Rotaract?

I am in a rotaract club in Jamaica. Our main objective for this year is to do as many community service projects as possible so when it comes on to fund raising we want to do as little of those that generate large profits so that we can spend most of the time on community service projects. The money raised from fundraising will be sent to projects in africa which is why we would like to generate great profits….so any fund raising ideals that will generate big profits ? plz?

Answer: installation ticket sales! its installation period now isnt it?
find a low costing venue for the installation and get all the members on the BOD to come up with some food each. Then, charge 15 - 30 bucks for the tickets. should make at least 1k depending one how the response is.

raffles draw! get your rotarians to donate raffles draw prizes for a good cause!

prizes can also be for bingo games?

email to big companies and ask for sponsorships to prizes too and sell raffles draw tickets.

house cleaning!
newspaper collection! *it doesnt generate too much from my exp.*
walk a jog.

it really depends on how much great means and how much time you wan to put into this fund raising project.

hope you get through :)

When you are an organization or individual in need of a charitable donation, how do you go about finding what you need? After all, there are so many different companies and foundations out there that issue grants to people, depending upon their goals, that is can tough to know where to submit a proposal. Here are some tips to make the process of searching easier:

1. Go online: Hitting up the Internet for information is a great way to find out just about anything these days, and getting a grant is no exception. Web sites like nozasearch list more than a million different charitable foundations that provide money to grant-seekers. Searching the nozasearch database can not only give you insight into who is giving money and what their process it, but you can also get valuable tax information as well. The site features the public tax records of a number of great foundations that issue grants because these records are a matter of public record. These numbers can also assist you in formulating your approach, as it is a bit easier to do when you do know what a charitable foundation has done in the past. Looking at the history of giving can give you insight into how often and how much the foundation contributes to organizations or individuals in your particular field.

2. Ask around: If you know of anyone who has received a grant in the past, ask him or her where they received their funding and what the process entailed. In some cases, they may be able to give you the contact name or number they used to help you get your foot in the door. Ask them for advice in your approach and find out how stringent the acceptance process was. For example, if they were turned down multiple times or required to go through a difficult acceptable process, you can either prepare yourself to endure the effort or decide that ultimately, you may want to seek out a foundation that specializes in working with people who have little to no experience in seeking out grants.

3. Purchase a resource book: Visit your local book retailer and search for a resource book on charitable foundations. Some books will provide you with information on submitting a proposal as well as contact names, numbers, Web sites, address and more. You can then find charitable donations that fall in your category and approach them first. Moreover, you will have a list at your fingertips that you can refer back to at any time.

All of these are great ways to find a foundation that issue charitable donation, however, going online to sites like Noza Search is preferable as they are able to update information as it changes. This way, you know when a foundation has changed its method of donation or is no longer issuing grants. For additional information on Charitable Donations currently issuing grant money and the information you need to approach them, visit www.nozasearch.com.

STONEHAM, MASSACHUSETTS…

Supporting the blood supply is a community-wide responsibility. That’s why DirectBuy is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

The American Red Cross blood bus will be at DirectBuy of Boston North’s 100A Fallon Road location in Stoneham between the hours of 2pm and 8 pm. Walk-ins are welcome. However, due to limited space in the Donor Center, the Red Cross encourages donors to make an appointment by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or logging on to www.givelife.org.

As an added incentive for donors to make an appointment in advance, all presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly’s Ice Cream. A scheduled appointment is required to receive the coupon.

“A safe and sufficient blood supply must be on the shelves when patients need it most, and the only source of blood is a generous blood donor,” says Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, American Red Cross – Northeast Division. “The American Red Cross is appreciative of DirectBuy for its support of our life-saving mission.”

The need for blood is constant. Every day, the Northeast Division must collect 2,000 units of blood just to meet the basic needs of patients across New England. The difference a donor can make in the life of a patient is something that cannot be overstated.

Blood can be used for patients undergoing many surgical procedures, organ transplants, trauma and chemotherapy. For some patients, such as the victim of an automobile accident, the need for blood is sudden. For others, ongoing transfusions are needed to sustain lifesaving medical treatment.

“As a member of the Stoneham business community, we’re happy to host this blood drive,” said Carl Krawczyk, managing partner of DirectBuy of Boston North.  “We urge our members and residents of the greater Stoneham area to come out and donate. Your donation could save up to three lives.”

Charitable endeavors are nothing new for DirectBuy. DirectBuy locations across Canada and the United States are active contributors to many local non-profits and charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs, Salvation Army, YMCAs, Homes for Our Troops and Children’s Hospitals.

Since 1971, DirectBuy has helped consumers enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products, and accessories, by providing an avenue to purchase directly from the manufacturer. Conveniently located at 100A Fallon Road in Stoneham, Massachusetts, just north of the City of Boston, DirectBuy offers members a comfortable setting, where they finally have the financial control of buying direct.

For more information on a DirectBuy membership, you can call 781-279-4433 or visit http://www.directbuycares.com.
