Last week my colleagues and I each pitched in some money to play the lottery. We were asking each other what we’d do with the money if we won. I said I’d keep a fourth for myself and use the other 3/4s to start 3 charities. Although I didn’t win the lottery I kinda still want to start the 3 charities.

One is a scholarship, the other is a research fund, the other is a pediatric charity.

The problem is I need million to start each charity. I was going to put the money in a high yield savings account or buy bonds and whatever interest is received will be the money that goes to the cause. that way I can still give even after I’m long dead. Since no one is going to write such a huge check without proof how do you start a charity? I know there’s some registration you have to do to make it tax exemptable. what do I have to do?

If I was going to have a charity drive, and all the proceeds would be divided evenly between all 50 States, what charity would be best to donate to? This charity – donation drive will be at Christmas time. Thank you for your suggestions.

I noticed even the Movie Stars have Charities they like to promote, and they are not afraid to say so.
So will you say what charity that you help at holiday time, or maybe just any time you want to give them some added help?

The economy is hurting many families and many of them need help. While people want to donate and make a difference, charitable organizations are seeing less items donated. People simply do not have the means to donate as much as they used to. Everyone is watching their spending because they are afraid of being laid off and not being able to afford house payments and pay bills. For those who can donate, it feels good to give to the community and know that you are helping people in need. At the same time, you will get tax deductions on qualified charitable donations.
