It’s your worst nightmare: a loved one has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or your child has had a trip to the emergency room! This may be the case for millions of Brits, whose grief is interrupted by the second-most troubling concern: finances. It’s bad enough that you’re absorbed in the vortex of suffering along with your loved one, but if you don’t have proper insurance or an extra pocket of money handy, your entire life and future could be in jeopardy.

According to one 2007 survey, one-third of adults say that an unexpected expense in the last year “seriously set them back.” And roughly 34% of the population will suffer an unanticipated medical expense this year. The next common “unexpected expenses” included: car repairs, housing repairs, life events and children. Payday advances are well-suited for all of these necessities.

Fifty-five-year old Kirk Donald began taking out payday advances two years ago when his wife fell sick. It was difficult to keep up with their medical bills after they lost her additional pay cheque, Donald told The Chicago Tribune. “I never missed a payment, thank God,” he relays. He said that he felt a little embarrassed going to the payday advance shop, but the people there assured him that many salesmen took out payday advances. He said that using payday advances for essentials was smart but that consumers can run into trouble if they try to take out bigger loans to cover things like Christmas holidays.

For another family, a child diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes required a copayment of $500 – even with health insurance! While getting government assistance or aid is most preferable, this family needed a short-term quick solution to ensure their child had the medicine he needed. A payday advance asked no questions and promptly dropped off the funds into their bank account. This gave them a few extra weeks to find an additional employment opportunity, collect donations, seek government aid and do what they needed to do to avoid this money gap the following month. You needn’t be embarrassed about getting a payday advance. We all need a helping hand sometimes!

STONEHAM, MASSACHUSETTS…

Supporting the blood supply is a community-wide responsibility. That’s why DirectBuy is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

The American Red Cross blood bus will be at DirectBuy of Boston North’s 100A Fallon Road location in Stoneham between the hours of 2pm and 8 pm. Walk-ins are welcome. However, due to limited space in the Donor Center, the Red Cross encourages donors to make an appointment by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or logging on to www.givelife.org.

As an added incentive for donors to make an appointment in advance, all presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly’s Ice Cream. A scheduled appointment is required to receive the coupon.

“A safe and sufficient blood supply must be on the shelves when patients need it most, and the only source of blood is a generous blood donor,” says Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, American Red Cross – Northeast Division. “The American Red Cross is appreciative of DirectBuy for its support of our life-saving mission.”

The need for blood is constant. Every day, the Northeast Division must collect 2,000 units of blood just to meet the basic needs of patients across New England. The difference a donor can make in the life of a patient is something that cannot be overstated.

Blood can be used for patients undergoing many surgical procedures, organ transplants, trauma and chemotherapy. For some patients, such as the victim of an automobile accident, the need for blood is sudden. For others, ongoing transfusions are needed to sustain lifesaving medical treatment.

“As a member of the Stoneham business community, we’re happy to host this blood drive,” said Carl Krawczyk, managing partner of DirectBuy of Boston North.  “We urge our members and residents of the greater Stoneham area to come out and donate. Your donation could save up to three lives.”

Charitable endeavors are nothing new for DirectBuy. DirectBuy locations across Canada and the United States are active contributors to many local non-profits and charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs, Salvation Army, YMCAs, Homes for Our Troops and Children’s Hospitals.

Since 1971, DirectBuy has helped consumers enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products, and accessories, by providing an avenue to purchase directly from the manufacturer. Conveniently located at 100A Fallon Road in Stoneham, Massachusetts, just north of the City of Boston, DirectBuy offers members a comfortable setting, where they finally have the financial control of buying direct.

For more information on a DirectBuy membership, you can call 781-279-4433 or visit http://www.directbuycares.com.

Question: Are we allowed to deduct expenses related to working on Wikipedia articles or only cash contributions?

Wikipedia is a non-profit foundation (charity); a deduction is allowed for monetary donations. What about (for example) electricity used by our computers while writing/revising an article, mileage to drive to the library to do research, etc.?

(Yahoo! Answers is part of Yahoo! Inc., which is a for-profit business, so we cannot deduct any donations to it.)

Answer: Wikipedia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses directly related to services provided by you to Wikipedia are deductible as a charitable donation. Keep proper records to document your out-of-pocket expenses, if you have any. You cannot deduct the value of your time.

Getting Donations From Walmart

Getting Donations From Walmart
Getting Donations From Walmart

Question: Bill+Missiles+Donations+ Permanent MFN + Hillary+Walmart Board = China Destroys the US?

Are Bill and Hillary trying to help China to destroy the US?

Let’s take a look at FACTS:

Bill got a ton of “campaign” money from Chinese sources.
Bill let the Chinese sleep in the Lincoln Room.
Bill gave Permanent MFN to China — something few Dems supported (Why would Bill betray his own party?)
Bill was in charge when China “stole” our very best missile guidance system. (Or did he give it to them?)

Hillary was on Walmart’s board of directors.
Walmart has teamed up in a way that has destroyed millions of American jobs.
China tried to buy a US oil company (Unocal). The Republican Congress put a stop to that!

I’m not saying that Bush is against China. But, he’s not running for president. My concern is that Hillary and Bill would gladly sell America to China for enough money in their own pockets.

Are Bill and Hillary helping China to destroy the US?

Answer: All of your accusations don't add up to a hill of beans without proof.
I don't see any facts without anything to back it up.
