Answer: you could go to a car-boot sale and buy loads of melons and let people pay money to smash them up and trust me you will get a lot of people! wanting to take out stress. especially in the credit crunch!

Question: Fundraising ideas for college students?

I am in charge of fundraising for a college ROTC boosters program. Last semester, we made several thousand dollars by working with the college athletics department, but that option is not available this semester. We are looking for some fundraising ideas that will earn us a decent amount of money (small things like bake sales really don’t work). Does anyone have any ideas we could use? There are about one hundred of us in the program, but not everyone will be actively participating.

Answer: Well at my university, alot of organizations and departments sell krispy kreme donut boxes of 10 or 12 for $5 and they sell quick. You can also do hand-made things that college students would pick up. ROTC gives out alot of paraphernalia (im also in ROTC)...So you could let the students play a game about university history facts and make them pay a dollar, and if they get it correct, give them a bottle, keychain, string bag, shirt to them! order cookies and stuff of that sort!

Question: ideas for a fundraising event for a school group?

i have to put an awesome fund raising idea on a application to go on this trip with my school to somewhere in Canada! i really want to go and have a awesome idea for a fund raising event!!
please help!! any suggestions would be awesome!

Community dance or dance off (You know in the movie Grease where they have certain rules they have to follow and if they are broken then they are out or you could have it to wear there is dance teams going up against one another like Stomp the yard) or just a plain dance

You could have like a movie night where people pay so much to get in but have it cheaper than the local theaters and some refreshments.

Have a Carnival at your school sell raffle tickets. Make sure you get local businesses to contribute the prizes so you wont go in the hole.

Car washes always go pretty good especially in the spring and summer times.

Candy is always a good bet but its not very creative.

Have a talent contest where everyone has to pay to get in... like a dollar or something and make sure its in the daytime when you are suppose to have school so it guarantees that almost everyone will be there.

Well for Mother's day you guys could sell flowers or something like that. I dont know when this trip is so i dont know how long you have to come up with something.

This is kind of odd but if you can get some volunteers you can have like an auction of people... maybe your teachers? or some good students that people trust? And people pay for them to come to there homes and do what they want.. house work or maybe if a teacher buys a student they have to clean the classroom or something like that.

Its getting harder for me to come up with some now lol

Question: How can I freely/inexpensively promote an online memorial service setup by a charity?

Hi, I’ve been doing some (offline) promotional work for an online memorial service called www.muchloved.com that has been setup by a charitable trust (www.thedatatrust.org). Now I want to get the site listed on search engines but Dmoz (which I normally use) no longer seems to work and the charity don’t have the money to do pay per click advertising. Does anyone know a good directory or service thats either cheap or even free that will start getting them some visitors please. Its a beautiful site with noble aims and all the money goes either to the charity (which helps counsel bereaved people) or to perpetually hosting the memorial online. Please help. Thanks!

Answer: I would suggest you try prweb.com which is a very affordable press release service. this will get your word out a little bit and build links in to your website.

In addition, you may want to do a video and post it on youtube, google video, and dailymotion.com for free.

You can also use Jigadig.com's advertising. It's a free targeted search advertising system. All you need to do is get some users using their search engine and it will support you with free advertising.

Charitable Trust Structure

Question: Can money be donated for a specific purpose, and that purpose only, to a non-charitable association?

For a charity, if someone donates money to be used for a specific purpose, it has to be used solely for that purpose. Does this apply solely to donations given to charities? Can the same thing happen with donations given to other groups such as a company, and I&PS structures, which are not charities, but which are working in the social and voluntary and co-operative sector?

If not, is this because the donation is considered to be a little individual trust type donation. used by the charity trustees for the use of specific beneficiaries? And is there a way, an alternative mechanism, can be used, like a contract, or some kind of promissary note, that can be used to produce the same effect, of binding the recipients of the donation to use the money for the purpose for which it was given?

Answer: Yes, it can be dome. Ted Turner donated 1 billion dollars to the UN with the clause that it be used for feeding the hungry.
